PIE A PI
Pie a Pi is one of our annual philanthropy events where we partner up with other organizations containing "Pi" in their letters. Members of the organizations volunteer to get a plate of whipped cream smushed in their face by their friends and classmates. We love this event because it's a great way to support our other Greek groups and raise money for our different philanthropies!

THE DIAMOND DASH 5k
The Diamond Dash 5k is now a new staple for ADPI. This run/walk event is held along the Greenway Trail of Boone where participants can receive a free t-shirt and win a price if they are the top three competitors. The entry free donated by our runners goes towards our local philanthropy, App Builds a Home, and the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation.

BOUQUETS FOR RONALD
Bouquets For Ronald is one of our favorite philanthropy events held in the month of February. At this event, a ticket will get guests a cookie from a local bakery, Stick Boy Bread Co., and a warm cup of hot cocoa. Attendees may also purchase fresh roses for their friends or loved ones! All proceeds raised from this event go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Alpha Delta Pi Foundation.

THE ADPI GIVES GALA
The ADPi Gives Gala is a formal event for our members and their families, as well as representatives from the Ronald McDonald House of Southern Appalachia. The event consists of a silent auction, dinner for our guests, and plenty of music. All proceeds of this event benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Southern Appalachia. The Keeping Families Close Gala is so special as we get to share our philanthropy with our families and include them in raising money for a cause that we love to support!
In addition to our four major events above we also support our philanthropies through percentage nights, the Puppy Pawty, volunteering at the Ronald McDonald house in Johnson City and more!

Hi! My name is Andrea Terrell, and I currently serve as the Director of Philanthropy for the Zeta Mu chapter of Alpha Delta Pi at Appalachian State University. One of the most rewarding parts of our chapter is getting to support not only our national philanthropy, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Appalachia, located in Johnson City, TN, but also three incredible local organizations right here in Boone: App Builds a Home, Children’s Hope Alliance, and The Hospitality House.
Each of these organizations plays a vital role in our local community and allows our chapter to reach beyond campus to make a meaningful impact. App Builds a Home is a Habitat for Humanity initiative that partners with one family a year to construct a safe, affordable home. We contribute by fundraising through our annual Diamond Dash 5k and volunteering on build days. Children’s Hope Alliance focuses on providing safety, healing, and hope to children and families across North Carolina in the foster system. We support them primarily through fundraising efforts. The Hospitality House serves low-income individuals in Boone by offering shelter, food, counseling, and other resources. Our chapter contributes through volunteer work, food drives, and event support.
On the national level, RMHC is at the heart of our philanthropic efforts. It provides a home away from home for families with children receiving hospital care. Whether we’re preparing meals, cleaning, collecting pop tabs, or fundraising, our chapter loves supporting the families staying there. Our signature fundraising events include Roses for RMHC, Pie a Pi, and the Keeping Families Close Gala.
Philanthropy has always been something I’ve been passionate about, and getting to plan events and give back alongside my sisters has made my experience in Alpha Delta Pi so much more meaningful. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to support these causes and help make a difference in our community and beyond.
Loyally,
Andrea Terrell

Ronald McDonald House Charities
“Many families travel far from home and spend several weeks or months to get treatment for their seriously ill or injured children – a long time to be away or to divide a family. And, for children facing a serious medical crisis, nothing seems scarier than not having mom and dad close by for love and support. A Ronald McDonald House provides a place for families to call home so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little to no cost.”

App Builds a Home
"App Builds a Home is a unique campus-wide partnership between Appalachian State University and Watauga County Habitat for Humanity to help local partner families build safe, affordable homes. In the App State tradition of community partnerships, this home build is a tangible commitment to our community and an opportunity for a campus-wide project to bring together students, faculty, staff, and alumni to help build a home with a local family."

Children's Hope Alliance
"Children’s Hope Alliance (CHA) has been around for 130 years and is committed to helping children and families of all shapes, sizes, and definitions through a vast array of community-based services. Our comprehensive programs give hope to North Carolina’s children and families by providing a safe family home, a pathway to healing, and a healthy start toward a bright future."

Alpha Delta Pi Foundation
“The Alpha Delta Pi Foundation is tremendously grateful for the support of our sisters and Foundation friends who make it possible for us to provide emergency grants to members in crisis, scholarships and leadership training for collegiate and alumnae sisters, resources to fight hazing and sexual assault, funding for the preservation of monuments and memorials unique to our history, and so much more!”
